This restaurant is somewhat hidden away, but the atmosphere is truly elegant and intimate, featuring soft lighting. I had the Garden Party pizza, and I was thrilled to be "invited"! The toppings were abundant, but not so overwhelming that they weighed down the pizza. I also enjoyed the crust—it was neither too thick nor too thin, and quite flavorful! The combination of toppings, including artichokes, cauliflower, and peppers, was delicious and offered great value compared to the build-your-own option. The tomato sauce base was excellent as well, enhancing the overall taste. If I had one minor complaint, it would be that the pizza could have used a bit more tomato sauce, though I understand that might make it too heavy. I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu offerings. One pizza is large enough to share between two people. Oh, and the packaging is really adorable!
This was my first time ordering from here, and it was a huge letdown. We got the Garden Party pizza, but it was burnt to the point where we could only eat the middle. We requested extra feta, but there was none on the pizza at all. There were hardly any toppings, or maybe they were just burned off—either way, all we could taste was char. It's unfortunate that this was our first experience; I really hope it was just an off day for them. Big D turned out to be a big disappointment!
I LOVED my first time trying this place and I will definitely order again! Happy to be their first review First and most importantly: the pizza. It 's really good and exactly what I want in a pizza: not too light, not too dough-y or bread-y, just the right amount of chewiness. I think the dough is everything. They even brush the crust with some garlic butter (I think? that makes it so savory and good. You can make your own pizza but their menu really has some creative combinations that I haven 't seen before and multiple that I 'd love to try. Mine looks a little bare because I got one with no traditional cheese (just some pecorino sprinkled on top which sounds crazy but was actually really good with the bacon vodka sauce and jalapeño. I 'm usually a meat pizza person all the way but this sounded really interesting and did not disappoint. Others: I got the cauliflower wings. It 's deep fried cauliflower nuggets with a sweet and sour ginger sauce. The cauliflower was good; The batch of sauce the I received was so heavy on the ginger, even for me who loves ginger, so I think that could be improved. But overall I was really impressed, mostly by the quality of the pizza. Every bite was flavorful because of the sauce and the brushing and the texture was just right. I 'm really looking forward to trying more from here. Big D Pizzeria, keep it up! I would love to come back again soon! Note: cute compostable packaging! See pic for pizza box.
Try the SF Penicillin and the roasted cauliflower!
