Foreign Cinema - San Francisco

This was my third time at Foreign Cinema. This time, I went with my entire family and got the same server who had a pony tail (receipt showed the name as Attila) as last time with whom I had an unpleasant experience but this time my experience was far worse. Instances: 1. When we asked him to recommend a drink, he said with an attitude that how can he tell what we would like? 2. He asked us how we would like the salmon cooked. We wanted to understand what medium salmon would be like. To this his response was, “medium is medium, and rare is rare.” 3. When we asked him if he would recommend the soup, he had a shocked expression on his face and his answer was, “That’s the only soup on the menu”. 4. When we asked for the dessert menu, he again said rudely that he would get it once the plates were cleared. For everything he had to give a sarcastic reply. The entire experience left a bad taste even though the food was good and the ambience was great.

It was nosier than I expected, but the ambiance and food were great! Our server was excellent esp when she chased us down the block to give us our credit card which we left on the table.

The quantity, quality, and presentation were all below average. I have doubts about whether there was even a chef in the kitchen.

I had been eagerly anticipating this meal for years and finally had the chance to dine here with my family during a special occasion a few days ago. Unfortunately, it fell a bit short of my expectations. While the menu looked delicious, the flavors didn't quite impress us given the price point. Many dishes seemed one-note or unbalanced. It wasn't bad, but it didn't quite live up to the price or the charming ambiance. Surprisingly, our favorite dishes were the green salad, bread, and oysters, which weren't the highlights we were hoping for. The ice cream had a grainy and watery texture, and although everything looked and sounded good, it just didn't hit the mark.

I just want to privately note to FC about our experience. We have never encountered this situation before!
