A tiny little shop down a cutely decorated alley in Chinatown making/selling very hot and fresh fortune cookies. They aren’t the cheapest, but they are very good, thin and crispy cookies. The ladies make them on site. We bought a small box with mixed flavours of plain and chocolate (8.00) and they ladled a big scoop of flat cookies into our bag after purchase.
Golden Gate Fortune Cookies left us with mixed feelings about our visit. Despite the long line that moved fairly quickly, our overall experience fell short of expectations. The cramped shop and hurried service gave us a sense of being rushed through. While the fortune cookies were undeniably tasty, their steep price didn't quite match the value, especially considering their short shelf life.On the positive side, the variety of flavors was delicious, and the opportunity to write personal messages inside the cookies added a unique touch. They also give you free flat samples that were tasty. If you're curious about the process of fortune cookie production, it's worth a visit, but be prepared for some minor trade-offs.
They are located in an alley so might be easy to miss but if you look down an alley and see a line then you're at the right place. The line moves fairly quickly and it's very small inside. While you're in line, one of the women passes out a free sample of the unfolded fortune cookie fresh and warm right out of the oven. Once inside you'll have to decide quick which cookies you want to buy. Cookies taste very fresh there since they're are made there compared to the ones you get at a Chinese take out restaurant.
