This remains my favorite bar north of the Taraval line after almost 20 years. They still have some board games, although not as many as I remember. The crowd has thinned a bit, but the neighborhood's charm keeps the place lively. The usual random tables and chairs are still there. The bartender made us a custom drink when he recognized one of us, and it was really good. It's a great spot to relax after work or hang out with friends without the chaos of the city. If you're looking for more noise, head over to 9th and Irving. This bar is primarily a place for a laid-back atmosphere.
After some time, we fondly remembered the lounge and wanted to return, but we had trouble locating it. Since they only accept cash, we couldn't look up the name through a credit card transaction. I attempted to find it on Google by searching for lounges and bars, but it never showed up. Finally, I decided to drive back to San Francisco with the aim of rediscovering this hidden gem. I cruised around the streets but was disappointed when I couldn't find it. I then stopped by a restaurant nearby where we’d visited the lounge before and explored the nearby lounges on my phone. While looking through some pictures, I spotted a couch that reminded me of the lounge. It felt like a sign, so I paid a visit and was overjoyed when I arrived. I ordered a Gimlet immediately, and I must say, it's the best one in town. Sitting on the couch, I learned about the lounge’s remarkable history. After the great earthquake in 1906, it remarkably survived, and there’s a clock in the lounge that stopped during the quake – it’s still there today. This lounge truly is fantastic, offering a great experience at reasonable prices. Just remember to bring cash, as they don't accept cards.
It is another institution here in SF. Since 1893, which makes it the second oldest bar in the city to The Saloon in North Beach. Bar has changed property three times to today. You can play all kinds of board games, pool dart. Bathroom is also long:
Awesome spot for a drink! Cool, old school vibe with a separate room in the back for darts. Great bartenders who know how to make all the concoctions. Go and enjoy!
