The fresh raviolis are excellent I especially love the pumpkin ones better than some I've had at restaurants. I felt the marinara sauce needed a little salt, but still great fresh sauce and pasta. The fresh Italian sausages were also great added some of those to the fresh pasta and sauce.
Working in Italian restaurants for as long as I have and you'll come to fall in love with this place. One of the best Italian delicatessens in the city also has a wide array of Italian favorite like paper thin slices of meats, cheeses worthy of praise and even fresh pasta made everyday. I've bought a large loaf of garlic bread here before. When it was time for dinner, I decided to heat some up in the microwave. What resulted was about 15 minutes of cleaning in my microwave. Tasted great, but be prepared for enough fat to clog even the most veteran of eater's arteries. The meat sauce here wasn't a favorite at a recent dinner I prepared. The sauce was to tart for my little cousins, but they loved the fresh pasta here so I had to improvise and create a cream sauce instead. Overall, this place has quality food, but might not be for everyone. Try everything that looks interesting at least once and form your opinion from there. I know I have and I'll be back here for a long time.
Good selection of fresh and packaged produce. You'll see a wide variety of wines, spirits, imported goods and a full service deli. The fresh pasta is nice is priced wonderfully. They offer fresh sauces, pizza dough, and pasta. Don't miss the cheese blend which is a great topping for pizza and some pastas.
Lucca is one of best deli's in the city in my opinion. Besides a great selection of cured meats, they also have a vast selection of pasta and very reasonable prices (squid ink pasta at $4 a pound! Beware that the shop is closed Sundays and very crowded on Saturdays so make sure you figure out your order before they call your number.
