To fill up on a smorgasbord of pastries and breads from the Washington Bakery Restaurant. It must be good, I think, since this is her family’s favorite spot. BTW, her grandmother is from the old skool and kicks it with her fellow grammy homegirls at the Mah Jong club in LA’s Chinatown on Saturday afternoons. My friend ends up buying an extra 2 dozen breads to feed grandma’s masses! Anyway, I tried a few things from this place and was pretty impressed. See list below. The service is good, but, as with most place in C-Town, no one speaks much English. Put your pointing skills to the test and try it out!
I ordered the beef congee and a milk tea for breakfast. It was exactly what I needed! The customer service was outstanding and the food came out quickly. I highly recommend this place for a satisfying and tasty breakfast. Bon appétit!
We will miss you, Washington Bakery. It was our weekly hangout for all 5 years we were in San Francisco. Really grateful for all the breakfasts and Hong Kong style foods served by kind staff and a great open kitchen. We always got baked goods to go.
Friendly staff, delicious food! The roti duck wrap was our favorite and the tomato beef noodles were not bad too. Heated up well for leftovers too. A no-frills place for when you just want some good comfort food.
The Washington Bakery Restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown is known for serving the best Chinese porridge in the Bay Area. I have been dining at this restaurant with my family for the past 20 years, and our server Anna always takes great care of us. She knows exactly how we like our food and makes sure everything is perfect. The restaurant recently underwent a renovation in December, and it is wonderful to see Chelsea now running the business. Some of our favorite items to order include the Fish Filet Porridge, Preserved Egg Pork Porridge, Chinese Fried Bread, Salt Pepper Chicken Wings, and Lemon Iced Tea. The Won Ton Noodle Soup, Shrimp Dumpling Noodle Soup, Chicken Chow Fun, and Potstickers are also delicious options to try.
