New Golden Soup - San Gabriel

This is our family's go to for lunch in San Gabriel- amazing selection (and prices) for their lunch special and every time I've been here, it's been crazy busy with lines for people waiting to dine. It's authentic, greasy Chinese food in a slightly dingy but huge space. The best part is it's part of tv history for Bosch fans lol. I recognized it immediately as the restaurant scene Eleanor Wish infiltrated an illegal Chinese poker game! Just for that, I have no problem coming back!

All I can say is WOW! Originally went to Ji Rong across the street, but Ji Rong was out of Peking Duck. Golden Soup is directly across the street, so I called and asked if they had any Peking Duck available; luckily they did. Golden Soup's Peking Duck is delicious. The restaurant is nicely decorated in traditional Hutong style. Service was excellent. I have had Peking Duck at a few places in the valley, but this will now be my go to restaurant. I ordered the single dish meal and was happy to see the price was much less than other shops. Also ordered their Hot and Sour Soup. I highly recommend this place for Peking Duck. Don't miss out on this place.

The ambience inside the restaurant is excellent. The prices for most dishes are very reasonable.The taste of the soup is very good.

I was surprised about how delicious the dishes were because last time I didn't really like it. The price you can't find anywhere else.

They filmed a scene of Bosch here lol. The food is delicious. Some dishes are better than others. Lunch special prices until 6pm, which is pretty unheard of elsewhere. Orders come with free servings of soup. Bone broth with some vegetables and beef. Nothing really exciting but still nice. I suppose that is where the name of the restaurant comes from. Spinach with garlic and scrambled eggs with shrimp dishes are great. The protein in the clay pot dishes tend to be quite dry.
