So we left and ended up at Secco which was REALLY GOOD restaurant. It was actually better than this one in my opinion. I came the next day here to check it out with a girlfriend. It was OK. We came for dine week and ordered one of each on their menu. I was more impressed with Secco. The salmon in my pasta I thought was raw but I guess it was cooked with souve. I didnt like. I would probably be back for cheese and wine. The area wasnt too bad. It was kinda entertaining to see shady people across the street in the low income apartments. Over all the place was ok. Glad i was turned away after eating at Secco since it was really good and that was my 2nd choice.
Had gotten into a car wreck outside of this place. All the staff where very frindly and happy to share storys and give advice on great places to visit in town. The food is amazing too i got the mac and cheese.Wonderful date night vibes!
This is one of my favorite places EVER! If you like wine and cheese, you clearly belong here. However, they also have beer and a cocktail selection and other amazing food options. Nonetheless, the wine is amazing. They have crisp Sauvignon Blancs; buttery Chardonnays; rich, deep Cabernets; bubbly champagne, and so much more. The cheesemonger option on the menu is by far the best choice. You can say what cheese you do not like, and they curate an AMAZING platter. They also have its own accoutrement for each cheese. You would think cookie butter with cheese?? Then you eat it together, and it 's perfect on the crostinis they provide. Simply put, it is like that cute, animated movie, Ratatouille when he combines the cheese with the strawberry. You close your eyes and taste both flavors in harmony. The scallops are the absolute BEST I have ever ate and the gnocchi is to die for!! I will come here as long as they are open. I honestly wish their hours were longer! But they do not rush you out, which is very nice. They also have very cute events coming up: wine and paint, and cheese tasting. Get on their mailing list! I will be attending both : I will also probably be updating this review every time I come here and think of something amazing because I seriously love this place. The owner is in here all the time and the waiter is the absolute nicest guy.
Great new discovery for us in San Jose downtown, as a lot of our favorite places disappeared after their pandemic. Amazing variety of cheeses and wines with unique and savory accompaniments, like marinated pine cone jam. Very nice and attentive service. The place is small and quaint a perfect setting for a little French wine bar. Not a huge dinner menu, but the food is delicious!
This restaurant is a gem of downtown San Jose. The ambiance is cozy and the service is fantastic. The cheese plate is a must get and always has delicious and unique cheese pairings. You are never rushed, the wine is very reasonably priced and the dinners are delicious. I recently ordered a take home cheese board to serve during the holidays which I'd highly recommend. I couldn't recommend Devine enough!
