Their shrimp is seasoned perfectly and tastes amazing alongside the onions and tomatoes, combining delightful flavors. The chicken is stir-fried and reminds me of hibachi—it’s really impressive! I appreciate that their food is enjoyable hot or cold. The injera is exceptional and great even at room temperature. However, the collard greens were a bit bitter the last time I had them, and the potatoes can sometimes be large and slightly undercooked in the veggie combo with the cabbage. Personally, I'm not a fan of the dark lentils with the chili powder sauce. What I love most about this restaurant is the generous portion sizes—they definitely don’t skimp on food! Plus, they stay open late, which is a bonus for me. Thank you for consistently providing delicious food and excellent service!
I tried the Beg Alicha Wot, which is a lamb stew made with turmeric, injera, ginger, and onions. It was absolutely delicious! The lamb was tender and flavorful, and I loved the tangy kick from the ginger paired with the meat, oil, and soft bread. I also had the Lamb Tibs, which featured lamb seasoned with cayenne and served with injera. It was quite good—spicy enough for my taste and packed with various spices and sauces that made it very flavorful. While I might lean towards the Begalicha Wot, both dishes were excellent in their own right.
Another of the many understated San Jose neighborhood joints--really, a hidden treasure. Have come here quite a few times, but yesterday was the first since the beginning of the pandemic. Glad to see that it's still the same. Great food, friendly and relaxed service.
Absolutely loved the Ethiopian cuisine. Has a striking similarity to South Indian cuisine. We each had a Sambussa more like a Samosa but with lentil filling and 2 Vegetarian combos for the 3 of us, and it was more than filling. The Ingeras are an healthier option since it?s made of Teff. The sides that were offered with the combo were pretty good. Customer service is excellent. Scan the QR code attached for the menu options. Definitely recommended ?
We started with some Sambusas, and I ordered a glass of honey wine while my friends opted for honey tea. Those drinks came highly recommended by some friends of ours, and they were excellent! For our main courses, we shared a meat combo and a vegetarian combo, both served with injera on the side. It was an impressive amount of food—so much that even three hungry hikers couldn’t finish it all! I found the flavors to be very comforting and reminiscent of home-cooked meals. The food tasted quite similar to Indian cuisine, which I found fascinating considering how geographically distant the two countries are. Now, whenever I crave that comforting homemade feel in Downtown San Jose, I know I have found another great spot!
