Within just 30 minutes, two men approached our area and began to grind against one of the women in our group. When she politely asked him to back off and not touch her, he reacted violently. One of the men in our group intervened to tell him that the women just wanted to dance and asked him to give her some space. The aggressor then spit on him and threatened to kill him if he didn’t leave. The aggressor's friends surrounded our table and insisted that our friend go outside to settle things. He maintained that he just wanted the aggressor to stop groping the woman and back off. We alerted security about the situation. Initially, we thought they were going to remove the aggressor, but instead, they just spoke with him while he tried to push past them to get back to our table, all while yelling threats at us. At the same time, a few of his friends encircled our table. The men in our group managed to get all of us women to a corner while they stayed to assess the situation. The aggressor even made a reference to a gun, which left me bewildered as to why security wasn’t removing him; it was clear he was the troublemaker. When we approached security for answers, they simply replied that he was one of "their homies." A friend in our group mentioned he had previously seen that same aggressor doing drugs in the bathroom with two security staff members. I started to feel truly scared; it was as if we were sitting ducks with no one to help us. Next, I sought out the owner, who shockingly refused to kick the aggressor out. Instead, he said he would only ensure we were separated in the venue. He implied that we were the problem, claiming that the aggressor had approached him, flipped off our table, and threatened one of our guys, yet he still blamed us. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I demanded help to leave, asking if I needed to call the police, but the owner simply shrugged and told me to do what I had to do. It felt surreal. We eventually made our escape—literally running for our lives—when the aggressor, his friends, and security went to the back bathroom for who knows what. To think that our night out ended in such chaos is unbelievable. I can’t fathom how this establishment is still operating or how the owner hasn’t faced any lawsuits, especially after a recent shooting. This place is shady, ghetto, and downright dangerous!
Best to go in a group. Not the safest establishment. Do not recommend especially if you are only females.
I typically don't leave any reviews but today was so slow. My cousin and I went to get drinks and there were only two other girls there. The person who helped us was nice but then her and everyone else working decided to go on lunch at the same time. No one was attending the bar for about a good while. We wanted to order more drinks but we decided to leave because it was so slow it was ridiculous. It was just very unprofessional that everyone went on lunch at the same time and left the bar unattended.
LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The music is always great!!! Always meet fun and humble people here. Always see people dancing and enjoying themselves and not being clique-y or wallflowers. Wide age group goes which is nice if you are in your late 20s or mid or early 30's and still want to go out. No need to get all dressed up. Dress code is relaxed compared to most clubs downtown especially for men. Staff is nice and doesn't have a stick up their a like other clubs downtown this includes the owner, bartenders and security they are ALL chill. I've seen security at other clubs downtown play games and act sooo rude towards customers major turn off if you want people to keep coming back. If there ever is a cover charge at tikis its very affordable. Drinks are affordable and they ARE strong and tasty like the owner Pete says LOL. I was here when there was an artist performing and it was very fun and still affordable to get in. Probably my favorite place in downtown san jose to be honest. I've been to pretty much all the places too. Please don't change tikis!
