Al Mercat - San Jose

One of the best restaurants in costa rica. unfortunately there is no real competition

I was worried when I first came in, as it seemed like a caffe. we were shown above and it was delightful we enjoyed several of the appetizers instead of a main course and were more than satisfied.

Server did not come to us for 30 minutes. had no table for our reservation and we ended up in a bar window situation. we agreed, but then they just didn't serve us.

The service was poor. it took more than an hour to serve (and they forgot a dish) and despite having booked we were not given a proper place. We left the restaurant without dinner.
