An old setting with a colonial charm serves almost authentic Spanish cuisine in a relaxed environment. Attractions both tourists and locals.
I was in San Juan, so I stopped at Club Espanol for lunch. The food and service was excellent. I just stopped against Brazil football during Argentina. The crowd went wild when Lionel Messi reached the only target in the 13th minute. I had the Bife de Chorizo chato a la riojana and a bottle of Fabre Montmayou Reserva Malbec. It was excellent. I recommend Club Espanol!
We were in San Juan for the two. July 2019 eclipse, but this regional capital is far away from the beaten path for most business or tourists. If you are in San Juan for some reason, this great informal dining room is a great place to have a good dinner for a reasonable price. It is located on the north side of the 25. April main square in the city centre in one of the oldest buildings on the square. With high ceilings, good lighting and a staff that is efficient when not over friendly, it is convenient. Our party of four ordered pork chops, straw chickens, crepes with ham and cheese, chicken breast suiza and roasted chicken. The portions are generous and the fried chicken and pork chops came up with two fried eggs. It's not haute gourmet food, but it's good. Our bill including bottled water for all, two bottles of bargain price wine, and tip was $10.35 per person.
It’s fine. The service is very good. Definitely more of an Argentinean restaurant than Spanish (although it does have a paella dish, which we didn’t try). Ordered a couple of steaks medium rare, they arrived pretty well done. Disappointing for Argentina! Overall a decent selection on the menu at reasonable prices. Won’t be rushing back.
