Galvan's Market - San Leandro

I feel genuine sadness for people who love meat (Beef and Pork) but don't seek out quality product. Quality has a higher price tag but the value is in the flavor. In this respect, Galvan's consistently delivers as a Butcher. I've purchased numerous cuts of Beef and Pork over the last 2 years, probably shopped there 12 times and the meat is consistently quality. It's definitely not the cheapest but that's not what anyone should be seeking when it comes to red meat. The staff is also incredibly friendly and helpful at this veteran-owned business. Both aspects of that statement are very important to me.

This establishment is a small-scale grocery and butcher shop, featuring a wide variety of meats, an impressive selection of cheeses, and some chosen pastas and sauces. They also offer sandwiches, but without any quirky names like Ike's or the extravagant topping options you find at Subway. The sandwiches are straightforward and generously filled with freshly sliced meat that you can see being prepared. I'm bumping my rating from four to five stars mainly because of the laid-back yet friendly staff.

Didn't catch the name of the gentleman that helped us but he gave the best service I've had at a deli in years. Came for sandwiches and ended up getting some organic sodas, BBQ sauce, and pasta as well. He told us how most products came from Portugal and Italy. Sandwiches were great. Will definitely be back.

This is my go to spot for high quality meat and super friendly service. This is a couple cities over from me but I make the trip because I can’t find the same quality with this great of a selection.You can’t beat seeing familiar faces that are very knowledgeable about their offerings and give suggestions on how to prepare. I’ve gotten tri tip, prime rib, ham, corned beef among the many other items they offer. You can’t go wrong and will find what you need here for special occasions or everyday meals. They have seasoning, sauces and other items that can help complete the meal too.They also have a deli and their sandwiches so good! Definitely worth a lunch stop.There is no seating for eating in, so more like grab and go but they do have parking which is very convenient.

The ground beef was excellent, with about an 80/20 blend that made perfect burgers! The sweet Italian sausage was tasty as well, though I would have preferred it with about 30% less salt. Otherwise, the flavor was fantastic. The prices for these two items were very reasonable. I will definitely return!
