Nature Vegetarian - Sandakan

The restaurant offers both an a la carte menu and an economy rice set where you can select 3 dishes from the buffet for 5.50 RM. The seating is comfortable and spacious, the establishment is clean, and they also offer snacks and condiments for sale. Service is quick and friendly. The restaurant is conveniently located near the waterfront and central market. Please note that the menu is written in Chinese.

The vegetarian buffet at this restaurant is delicious with options for vegans as well. They offer mock meats made from tofu, soy, and mushrooms.

We went to this restaurant for breakfast and ordered a plate of noodles since there was no rice available at the time. We also selected three dishes from a small buffet selection of about six items. It's important to inquire about vegan options as eggs were used in some dishes. Despite the limited options, the food was tasty, which included fake meat dishes, tofu curry, and vegetables. We also tried a local-style soup, which may be more suited to local taste preferences. The service was friendly, and the total bill came to 13 Malaysian Ringgit.

Bit difficult to find as the address takes you down one road wrong but the place is the next parallel road along. Its a lunchtime buffet spot but the food was excellent and very cheap. Not open for dinner This was the only full vegetarian restaurant we found in the heart of Sandakan.

Nature Vegetarian is your basic Chinese ovo-vegetarian joint serving economy rice dishes from morning till 1pm. On our visit, there were about 12 dishes on offer, 10 of which were vegan. We sampled seven of them, of which all were tasty, six were warm, and none were spicy. Some were a bit oily, but not too bad. Total 11 Ringgit for two plates with soup. The building is about two blocks from the waterfront (depending on what you count as a block). The restaurant is on the first floor (or second floor if you speak American), so look for the rather grim stairwells near both ends of the block. You can see the sign above the restaurant from the street, but only if you aren't right under it.
