Clay's Popeye's Bbq In Spr - Sangamon

I ordered two walleye dinners with fries through doordash. When my order arrived I only received 1. I called Clays and let them know of the problem. The woman I spoke with was very friendly and apologetic. She offered to personally deliver it to my door. This place not only has terrific food, but also great customer service. Thank you Clay's Popeyes BBQ.

I enjoyed the meal here. I got the sample platter. Sauce was runny but had a unique flavor that was good (had the medium) and they placed the meat on a slice of bread to help sop up the sauce. The dining area could use a refresh but not an issue as it was clean other than the smell of the charcoal cooking the meats. Reminded me of the Rendevous in Memphis but only not in a basement.

In Springfield for a Dr. visit and wanted an authentic Springfield BBQ. Found Clays on Grand and gave it a shot. Wife and I had the rib tips, daughter had chicken wings and son had a bbq beef sandwich. All very good. Mild sauce was just the right amount of heat and sides were good. Entre plrtions were huge, but sides were small. Overall a good dining experience. I recommend it.

Really good home style Bbq, people are nice and service was great and well as fair prices.
