Harzer Erlebnishof Grillenberg

Beautiful situation in the hills overlooking the wooded valley and Grillenberg. Quiet spot except when coach load of visitors arrives). Chalets are roomy, clean and comfortable with good ensuite facilities. Linen and towels provided. Breakfast is served between 8-10am in the main building but can be earlier by arrangement. It was the usual buffet style with selection of meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, cereals, juice. We didn't eat any evening meals there so can't comment on that. Bus route into Sangerhausen 20 minutes) is close by but you really need a car to explore. Lots of walking and cycling routes and close to Harz mountains. Information boards on site to explain the wildlife around. Lots to do for families, including swimming pool and play area.Staff were friendly and helpful even though they didn't speak much English. If you are British, brush up on conversational German before you go. Cash payment was requested/ no card facility.
