I am eating at various restaurants on a very frequent basis. Restaurants in all categories from local eateries to international gourmet. Some are good and some less but very seldom do I come across an experience so bad that I would rather stand up and...leave unfortunately today was such an experience at Oberforsthof Alm. And so ended a 4 year long holiday tradition Me and my family used to visit Oberforsthof Alm during our vacation in Alpendorf despite the fact that our hotel stay includes a very nice gourmet style dinner. My wife and I ordered a glass of Prosecco for aperitif and when the glasses came mine was half the volume(very small volume) in a different type of glas than my wifes and it was luke warm we joked that perhaps it was a half drunk glass from another party .... We tried to communicate about wine with the clear too young and inexperienced waitress but with little success we pointed to the side in the wine card with half bottles (of Riesling) but had to argue heavily with the waitress that 1/2 bottles actually existed. We also chose a Cab Sav. For the main course. The waitress said we could just start with the red wine and she would check about the 1/2 bottle Riesling this makes no sense as we wanted it for the starters ..... My Pill Pill shrimps arrived quickly and long before the wine. We waited another 10 minutes for my wife and daughter’s starter (pasta with mushrooms) still no sign of my son’s simple garlic bread nor wine .... which only arrived to the table as we had lost our patience and left the table. As we complained we only got irritated looks and a teenage like attitude from all the staff. The table next to us who had overheard the conversation told us that they had at that time waited 20min just to order something. This is when we stood up and left! We explained our position(that we were tired of waiting) to some sort of head waiter who did not seem to express any remorse or regret. We asked to pay for our drinks so we could leave ..... to which his reply was : Please wait !!!! Not sure why but we did hang around waiting (again) for him some 10 minutes then we left. It should be said that the restaurant was also the venue of a wedding at the same time which it could seem was straining their service but this should never be an excuse. We can only hope this was a one off but from the attitude and lack of concern from the staff the cause could lie deeper. Unfortunately this was the end of our family tradition at Oberforsthof Alm

We went as a family and this one night my teen did not want to go out to get dinner so my husband and I went and had a wonderful couples night with this as the restaurant. We were not disappointed with the food and...the view and wonderful service added to the whole evening. We both had more traditional dinners and both were very stratified with our meal, mine was one of the best Schnitzels I have had but having lived in Europe I prefer it with sauce and they happily accommodated.

Very good eating but unfortunately also very expensive. the intentionally compensates for the prices. we sat in flashy trembling with flowing rain and all in dry.

If you want to go well, then maybe you want to celebrate, then you can definitely recommend this location. also suitable for large groups and corporate events. the lounge offers a fantastic ambiente and a great view over st. johann and st. veit.

We'd read on tripadvisor about this restaurant or we'd never find it. We had a nice spot in the panorama lounge. Dinner was good and not pretentious. Very pleasant services that have been super thoughtful about everything. I'm sure there'll be another way for the next 14 days, but also to other restaurants, of course!
