Avenida - Sant Joan de Vilatorrada

This restaurant has special place in my heart. It was first place I've visit in Catalunya (and Spain too and also my first meeting with original tapas. I have to admit, that inside design doesn't encourage to visit, but we went there with locals, who strongly recommended us this place. First, we spent few hours sipping beer and waiting for rest of friends to join us. When we finally gather, we let our friends to choose the best positions from menu. Oh dear, I think we tried almost whole menu! Croquetas, albondigas, patatas bravas, squids, baby squids, shrips, boquerones, various types of fish and all of them were simply delicious! We spent in Catalunya more time, but I've never ate better food than in Avenida. Generally, we ordered so much food, that one time waitress ask us to eat faster ; because she needed more space on big table to put more plates on it. Except of beer, we ordered few bottles of wine and few coctails so I left this place more than full and a little bit drunk and final bill was about 17€ per person. It's still makes me laugh, when I remember how much we have to pay in similar tapas bar in Barcelona. So I hope I'll visit Sant Joan another time and Avenida will be first place where I will go to eat :

Hemos tomado tapas y segundos aparatos. servicio muy rápido. Hemos pedido 3 tapas 4 churrascos cn opción add-on verduras muy ricas y con postre bebo a 25e por cabeza repetiré! Gracias.

Tratamiento impecable, amistoso y cordial. comida espectacular, tapas tradicionales, brasa y genio y squisitez en las sugerencias, pastel de atún, tacos, .... y trufas de cebada! totalmente recomendable! ¡Estoy abonado! Buen sitio donde se come con abundancia. No se aceptan reservas. Tienes que esperarte según llegas. Local no muy grande.carnes a la brasa.disponen de variedad de tapas y torradas. La especialidad de la casa las alcachofas.la jefa muy amable y simpática.facil aparcamiento.disponen de terraza pero para tiempo de verano.buen lugar para volver. Recomendable 100x100

El restaurante es excelente, las tapas típicas son picantes: bravas, chocos y chipirones. También ofrecen un menú de verano muy completo con platos cocinados a baja temperatura. Todo es delicioso y a un buen precio. En invierno tienen guisos.
