I went here to try the gluten free pizza because of the way it’s worded on their menu: gluten free dough. This wording made me believe it wasn’t going to be something like Udi’s brand premade crust from a box but real fresh made gluten free dough. Sadly I was wrong. It was premade gluten free crust like the kind you can get at Pieology (and cost an extra $5). That being said, they cooked it well and crispy. I got the Californian because of the rave reviews and I don’t get the hype. It lacked diversity of flavors. But the ingredients did feel and taste like quality ingredients. Maybe I would’ve liked a different combo better. The atmosphere in the courtyard is so pretty and the staff were nice. I still enjoyed myself but the product was underwhelming.
I had the pepperoni pizza kept it standard, with slices of pepperoni and parmesan on top. The pizza is quite artisan; what you would expect from high quality dough and toppings in a wood fired stove, then slices of parmesan cheese topping off the just baked pizza. It was quite good and filing. The pizzas are shareable for two people. Great for a date night or just catching up with a close friend. There's plenty of seating for groups of two to three people and a few benches for groups of slightly more.I'd steer away larger groups. Some people may balk at the size of the pizza versus the prices. The time it takes to order and get seated is long as well. On busy days, you could potentially be waiting in line to order the same amount of time it takes to make the pizza you are ordering. Busy days also mean that you'll be struggling to find a shaded place to sit, especially with a larger group. All in all, if it's not busy and you want to treat yourself to a good pizza then Lucky Penny is worth checking out. If there's a line to order and seating looks like it might be a challenge, there's plenty of other good pizza joints in the area you can try. Parking: There are several parking lots and a garage nearby, but on a busy weekend be prepared to carpool or walk a fair distance.
Amazing crust is super crispy and chewy at the same time
I went here last year with my sister. It was really good food. I really enjoyed the food. The pizza was good love the crust. It was just expensive too expensive, but I would definitely try it if I was to go back.
