The Santa Barbara building is renovated and looks like an apartment. One of the perks of having a room in this building is you get free parking!!! They have a tiny lot of this building and you get a permit for the lot when you check in. The shampoo and conditioner here is super diluted so I felt like I needed to use the entire bottle for one shower. Check in super easy, quick, and fast. They were very helpful and made our stay pleasant.
I stayed at the Hyatt's off-site Santa Barbara House. While the building is somewhat older, my room appeared to have been recently updated and was quite comfortable overall. I would have appreciated having a coffee maker and a mini fridge. The room also features a lovely balcony with a view of the park across the street, perfect for taking in the beautiful Santa Barbara weather. I would definitely stay here again.
Make sure to pay attention to the details when booking a room here, as not all accommodations are situated on the main hotel property. This can make it quite inconvenient to access amenities like the pool and restaurants. We were assigned to the Santa Barbara House, which is about four blocks away from the hotel. The building had the musty smell of an old museum and was poorly soundproofed; we could hear conversations from every room around us. To top it off, our view out the window was just a generic wooden fence in a backyard. Overall, the room was definitely not worth the $400 we paid for it.
Additionally, they advertised having a pool, yet there isn’t one on the premises. Guests are expected to walk two blocks to the Hyatt Centric to use their pool. Do they really expect wet guests to trek back to their rooms that way? Lastly, I found it frustrating to pay $15 for parking. The only positive aspect of our stay was the exceptionally friendly staff. After this experience, I will certainly think twice before booking a Hyatt hotel in the future.
Very disappointed. The Santa Barbara House is quite a distance from the main hotel building...a car ride or golf buggy (provided by the hotel) The building feels old and run down. Our room was small, there was no where to open up a suitcase other than on the bed. The balcony over looks the car parks and train tracks and the air conditioning units out there are old and very noisy. Got the golf buggy to the main building with the view to getting a drink and some dinner. Whilst the decor of the main building is more modern, neither the bar or the restaurant looked inviting, no atmosphere at all. We ended up walking down the road to the Hilton, where we had a lovely meal.
