Athena Grill - Santa Clara

We were celebrating a friend's birthday, and our server kindly brought us a complimentary piece of mandelkuchen for dessert. While we appreciated the gesture, none of us found the cake enjoyable as it was quite dry and dense. Additionally, I felt that the Athenian chicken pita wrap featured too little chicken and tzatziki this time around. Both my friend and I noticed the lack of chicken, as others have mentioned in previous reviews. Eating the small pita stuffed with tomatoes and other fillings proved challenging, so we ended up using a fork and knife to avoid making a mess. I always enjoy the delicious purple garlic/olive/mayo sauce that accompanies the French fries, although I found the fries could have been crunchier this time. The owner or manager was kind enough to check in on us, which we both appreciated. Overall, I plan to return, maybe to try a different dish, even though I've previously enjoyed this particular one.

I made a reservation through OpenTable for a birthday celebration and confirmed it upon arrival. I had to remind the staff about the reservation before the birthday guest arrived. Typically, they never forget these details.

The atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was quite good for the price. We ordered the bifteki and a few appetizers.

Several items we ordered were excellent while some were just ok. The winners included the swordfish and gyros wraps. The service was great.
