Hungry Hound - Santa Clara

This is such a fun place to eat at. I had a really nice time with my friends. The people who run the restaurant are really sweet and the value is good you get a lot of food. Honestly, the food is just ok. Nothing we had was cooked particularly well. The restaurant is a bit rundown and didn’t have air conditioning either. But you go to a restaurant for more than just the quality of the meal. What can I say- We were hungry hounds.

I ordered a hot dog and French fries, which were decent but nothing extraordinary. However, Hungry Hound had a special on shakes in various flavors, so I decided to try a strawberry shake, and I was pleasantly surprised—it was fantastic! It reminded me how much I love shakes, and I might treat myself to another one this summer since I haven’t had one in about ten years. As for parking, it seems the only option is street parking, which doesn’t have meters. There might be additional parking at the back, but I’m not sure about that. You place your order at the cash register, and the cashier will call out your number when the food is ready for pickup. It appears that customers are expected to clear their own tables by returning dishes and utensils to the counter or disposing of them in a waste container. Overall, a laid-back spot with some room for improvement!

I ordered the patty melt, and it was fantastic. The woman at the front was also very friendly. Everything here tends to be on the pricier side, which makes the $15 credit minimum seem more reasonable.

I've been visiting this restaurant since 2005 for their grilled chicken sandwich, which is arguably the best around. It has been consistently excellent over the years. The chicken is always perfectly marinated and seasoned, grilled to a lovely golden brown, and served on a soft baguette. The mayonnaise and pickles are exceptionally tasty as well. The grilled cheese is also quite delightful, and if you're a fan of thick milkshakes, Hungry Hound is the place for you!
