Safeway Liquor - Santa Clara

This is a decent Safeway. The shopping center in Homestead may not be as modern or attractive as many places in Santa Clara, but it's the closest Safeway for me, so I make do. The location has almost everything I need, and I didn't encounter too many issues finding items. The sales and deals help keep prices reasonable, but if you don't take advantage of the offers, Safeway prices can be quite high! The bakers have been friendly, and I've enjoyed the food from the deli and bakery. Plus, I appreciate that they have a Starbucks on-site.

I stopped by register 4 at 10:40 a.m., and the cashier seemed unsure about how to properly bag the food. He appeared frustrated. When I asked him if he enjoyed his job, he replied that he did, but it was clear he didn't always engage positively with customers, often coming across as distracted and uneasy.

I'm really disappointed to see that what used to be the best Safeway has now turned into the worst. Today, the store was not only dirty, but the milk shelves were also empty. To make matters worse, only two registers were open at checkout. There was one cashier who had his hoodie on, talking on the phone, and he was not doing a great job of bagging groceries. I’ve had enough; I’ll be looking for a better grocery store. My heart goes out to the long-time cashiers who have witnessed this store decline.

If you are looking for a quick stop to get some basics on a Friday night, this is NOT the place for you. I had 3 articles and had to wait almost half an hour, as only one plate was available...... on Friday night. They would think their management would notice and try to help the situation, but instead they go around, pretending they wouldn't see the mess. Next time I'll try Sprouts or Raleighs.

The last handful of times I went to this location I had some meh experiences. I tend to use the self check out because I only have handful of items. Those machines are confused all the time! When there is an item on sale, I get charged full price. When I find help its hit or miss too. There was one time I was frustrated with the self check out that I ended up waiting in line at the register. The sale items were still being charged full price, the cashier had to manually change it to the sale price.
