Kaito - Santa Cruz

Came here because I wanted ramen and there were lots of good reviews. Bought the tonkotsu ramen with an added soft boiled egg. It came with one disappointing small piece of pork cutlet, a small egg, and some vegetables separate from the noodles and soup. The yolk in the center of the egg was cold too. Not sure if this is standard for the food court but it came in a plastic bowl as well. Ramen and broth itself was average. Paid way too much for the mediocre ramen and disappointing amount of pork. Service was nice, but would not come here again.

I used to get ramen at Kaito when they were near pleasure point. Now that they are in the mall, I've order sushi twice. The mall food court doesn't have the greatest ambiance (perhaps take the food to go), but Kaito's sushi is AMAZING really cheap. It's fresh tastes delish. Highly recommend it. I look forward to trying out their ramen again.

I really wanted this to be a good ramen spot. Being a local in Santa Cruz there are no places to get ramen so when I saw this place with 5 stars I was excited and gave it a try. Very disappointed, the soup had a terrible aftertaste kind of like the smell of a barnyard and they only give you one piece of meat which was at least tender, little to no veggies and some soggy seaweed. This did not scratch that itch, really hope they figure out whatever’s up with that aftertaste.
