Upon arrival, I noticed a man on his phone behind the counter before being greeted by a lady. I ordered teriyaki tofu and rice, Kung pao tofu and rice, sesame balls, and Thai tea. The food came out quickly, with both dishes ready in less than 5 minutes. The Kung pao tofu was deliciously spicy and flavorful, while the sesame balls were good. However, the teriyaki tofu had a funky taste, with one piece tasting sour and gone bad. This made me lose my appetite. Despite enjoying the Kung pao tofu, the negative experiences that others and I have had make me hesitant to return. The lady at the front was friendly, but the restaurant was surprisingly empty for a Saturday evening. I don't mind waiting for fresh food, but I don't expect to be served old dishes. Parking was limited, so it's best to park nearby and walk to the restaurant. I spent $40 but didn't get to fully enjoy my meal.
The Spicy Curry Ramen is crazy great!!!Parking: Santa Cruz
I decided to visit the restaurant because I was craving pho. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the flavor of the dish and would not order it again. However, I really enjoyed their pork spring rolls. I do wish the peanut sauce was a bit thicker. The salt pepper wings were definitely the highlight of the evening. I would go back and order more wings if I could handle it, lol. Overall, I had a positive experience at the restaurant and found the staff to be friendly.
The Bon Chan restaurant was fantastic, and the server was very friendly. She guided us in choosing the right amount of food so we didn't overorder. We tried the fried chicken and found it to be tasty, but we suggest getting it with sauce instead of plain.
The soup is mediocre, sometimes I want it for lunch on a cold day. But, I don't think they have HVAC in there and it is always cold. Today I went in by myself as I often do, and they showed me to a table. I asked if I could sit at the next table over (the table they gave me was very small and right on the main walkway for everyone) and they showed me another table buried toward the back of the restaurant. I said that's fine, you can save all the tables for your other customers. There was maybe 1 other person in there, at 2:00. I doubt I'll ever go back, as much as I want to like this place the service is abysmal and the food isn't much. I think the only way they survive is that they are the only asian soup joint in SC.
