Contribuisci feedbackWhile on a day trip with my husband and friends (Nov 2015 , we stopped at El Puente in Taganana for lunch, and it was fabulous! We dined al fresco, which is the only way to dine when the weather is perfect. Our tour guide, Jaime from Feel Tenerife, arranged for a nice sit-down lunch with local foods and wine. We enjoyed bread with rojo mojo (we ordered more mojo , octopus in a red sauce with pumpkin, two types of potatoes (fresh picked from the garden that morning , boneless pork chops with two types of sauces (the mango sauce was the best! , mixed seafood platter (fish, shrimp, razor clams, mussels, baby clams ; grilled goat cheese with onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes; along with water, wine, and grappa! Everyone was stuffed and satisfied. The next time I'm in Tenerife, I would happily dine here again.
We visited here while on a tour of Anaga with Jaime Munoz. The roadside location is on a quiet road in the hills above a pretty beach. The staff speak very little English. The cooking was wonderful and the portions were generous. We had several local dishes, Canarian potatoes with tasty red mojo sauce, goat cheese, octopus casserole, the best pork casserole ever and a seafood platter to share among our group. The wine was good too though the pink one was a bit dry for my taste and the white was extraordinarily sweet! Go there if you can to taste real Canarian food in plain simple surroundings.
After driving for many hours we stopped at El Puente and was immediatelt greeted by the owner, a charming man with a big smile. We ordered today 's special (grilled mixed meat) and the owner came with bread and a sauce that he claimed was the best . We all tried and it and this was the sauces of the sauce. The best! Then the meat came and we got so much meat, simply cooked and served but with excellent taste. 3 persons shared 5 pork chops, ribs and chicken parts. All served with canarian potato and vegetables. A meal for Gods! A visit to this restaurant is worth a drive over the amazing Anaga mountain.
We were in Tenerife, Canary Islands in March for our 30th wedding anniversary. Jamie Munoz, our incredible guide took us around the island for two days giving us a phenomenal private tour experience. We knew it was going to be a great time .. El Teide, Masca valley, La Laguna, Garachiko, Anaga valley .. you know the works .. But what we were not prepared for what was this amazing introduction to the vegetarian end of the Canarian Cuisine prepared by the proud, happy and awesome Chef Jose assisted by his charming wife Sheila. They know how to get their guests the best meals in Canary Islands.. Here is how it goes.. The first things that strikes you as you sit down is the poster that declares the Best Mojo Sauce .... thought it was a huge claim, but trust me, it is. Their mojo picon the spicy red mojo sauce has a soul of its own. I am not getting carried away by poetic banter on a romantic holiday. It indeed was.. its my mouth-stomach unholy combo speaking assisted by my happy heart. And I wondered how they were going to delight a pair of sworn vegetarians.... But pleasantly surprise us, they did.. Part of their secret is that they source their ingredients not from commercial stores but from select producers .. The baby potatoes and the goat cheese they use are incredible.. Started with this yummy soup served with those incredible breads followed by Grilled Goat Cheese with mojo sauce, followed by Papas Arrugadas skinned baby potatoes boiled in hot water and served with Mojo. Never imagined those could be that delicious The Pella that followed , I believe, was the real endorsement of the mastery of the canarian food craft by Jose. Rice cooked just perfect with the right spices and vegetables was a visual delight and a gastronomic experience. We were, by then, as full as barrels. But it was hard to say no to a sip of the honey rum never heard of it but I am glad i did not say no Followed by the piece de resistance to end the meal on.... a great glass of Barraquito coffee Milk, Coffee,Condensed Milk,Ground Cinnamon,A bit of lemon peel without the white to avoid a bitter taste,Licor 43, or Tia María go into making the coffee and are layered as you can see in the picture . You dont just drink this coffee .. you savor it and enjoy it one sip at a time as the flavors of cinnamon, coffee, licor, rich mild, lemon dance on your tongue The price we paid was absolutely reasonable given the incredible treat we went through.. If you are ever in Tenerife, do make a pit stop here and you wont regret it. We are vegetarians and its a pity we can not voice any view on the non-veg end of the fare. But I can imagine ... I write many reviews but there are some that make you happy even as you writ it due to the lingering aftertaste that doesnt seem to go away from your mind... This sure is one of them. Hence a solid 5 rating The ambience, the service and the food .... Great job Jose and Sheila... god bless and stay blessed
We were passing by through Taganana when we saw this local restaurant and stopped there for lunch. It was by far the best restaurant we found in Tenerife. The area itself is really quiet, because the restaurant is located in a really small village. Real local Spanish people running the business. The guy doesn't speak English but he made a great effort to explain everything and that was overwhelming. The food itself is out of this world no words to describe it it's that good. If you are passsing through that area, definitely sit outside and enjoy the view there. It's amazing.
