Access from Zicatela via a staircase at Mr Pepe Hotel Olas Atlas goes through the El Eden Camping and Cabanas to the highway. Mom outside, making fresh, soft tortillas. Super busy with most locals. Open 6:00 to 10:00. All usual suspects and a hidden item we have ordered “ Sopa De Acteca”. Not on the menu, but always. Have heard of this soul creature, but never had the chance to have it. Absolutely delicious! The tortilla pieces and rich thick broth covered with avocado bites and all the tasty match cheese. Our host says it's the best in town. I will compare everything else with this as it is now on my fave food list. We had 2 large tropical juices, tacos dorado con chorizo, a soup, Carne enchilada (grilled at that time with amazing spice paste) with beans and tortillas, all for 225pesos. All day.
We heard about this place from a gentleman who has come to Puerto Escondido for several years. I have to say it didn't disappoint! We took the recommendation of the cook and had the piña mariscos, a nice dish in a pineapple. An order was enough for both of us. The Mojito was also perfect!
We went to Comedor Brisas del Mar when we consulted our hotel. It's gone from the hectic of restaurants on the beach and we were the only non-Mexican family food. A good sign! The pulp) octopus was perfectly boiled and the...shrimp tacos were made with very fresh shrimps and were plated in time. We sat at the edge with a view of the sea and saw how the sun went down. Dinner for two was 425. Pesos with two drinks. The time of meals was a little off when a table of two next to us received their food 10 minutes apart. The tacos could have come with a lime on the side. The sauce with the canto was mild, but very tasty.
This is a gem from the highway with a Vista of the Playas from lighthouse north to almost la punta. The food is diverse and never disappointing. Trad. Mex and some nods for breakfast north of the border. Best fruit smoothness in town. Friendly... efficient service and owner. Top spot to relax.
I can't believe that this place has no rating. I've had breakfast/lunch here a couple of time. Good prompt service, great food, great prices and the view cannot be beaten. Sure its not on the main tourist drag but a 5 minute walk is worth...it. The fruit with granola and yoghurt is sensational. If you don't eat here at least once then you have missed one of the best places to eat in Puerto Escondido.
