We have been eating at the Galley for over 25 years. For the first time in all those years, the food came cold and the service was awful,. They were completely understaffed, the waitress was actually running around trying to accommodate her clients, We needed a fork, water refilled, grandsons Sprite came after the meal, no dressing on the salad. We celebrate my husbands birthday there on the 3rd of February for more than 20 years…. The bill was $750 and was definitely not worth it. Sad to say, we won’t be going back!
Always a great experience. More of a dive bar than an elegant venue, it’s been around since the 1930s. Great staff. The menu is an excellent steak house style menu with lots of emphasis on fish too. Drinks are well made and reasonable, which attracts regulars like myself who have come for decades. Unfortunately their signature special sherry dressing is no longer made the way it was in the past, the BS story on the menu notwithstanding.
The Galley is a dining experience you cannot have anywhere else in LA. I go back over and over because it’s nostalgic, homey and unchanged by time or trends. It just feels like home. It’s a gem.
Disappointed in the filet , as it seemed very dry inside with a weird texture.
