Very large restaurant with view over a part of the valley. cook in commercial scale. had the cecina, but it was too dry and almost impossible to break apart, even after adding lime juice or salsa. the rest (salad, guacamole, tortillas,...frijoles and frites) was just in the middle of the road. the horchata was very good and creamy. also the flan and the café de la olla were good. the service was as fast as he was flown, but our needs did not predict.
Wonderful traditional Mexican restaurant with a great view and some very good traditional Mexican food. The meal begins with a type of pork rind chips and 3 tasty salsas that are not too spicy. The bowl of marinated chilis and carrots was a bit on...the spicy hot side though. We thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken enchiladas, the Suissa Enchiladas and the Chili Rellenos. Give this place a try is you are headed to Dolores Hidalgo or San Miguel.
This a traditional restaurant near Guanajuato. If you really want to try real Mexican food, go to this place. I personally recommend to try the tampiqueña, which in my opinion is the best dish they have. Try the sweet lime flavored water (Agua de Lima)...and enjoy your meal. They accept credit cards.
Restaurant de la Sierra is a must for anyone who spends more than a few days around Guanajuato, or it can be visited on your trek to Dolores Hidalgo, San Miguel, or points north. Wonderful for breakfast, lunch, or early dinner, or even a hefty...snack before or after a hike. This place serves up local specialties like cecina and carne asada, jocoque, cafe de la olla, enchiladas mineras, y chiles rellenos among many other dishes. Service is provided by local boys and family members. The view being charming, you will also get a glimpse of local Guanajuatenses, everyone from the governor on down at one time or another. They have homemade cured mescal if you fancy a tipple. Do not miss a delicious and inexpensive meal here with good company!
