Some of the items are good, like the ribs, but too often the chicken breast chunks are overcooked and dry, and the pork shoulder is okay. Some of the table servers are great, and others barely approach you. That has also gone downhill. It used to be that all of the servers were friendly and looking forward to helping you. I can see why there's never a wait to sit, even on a Friday night at 6. Yay never used to happen in the past.
We ordered the bbq rib family meal. They don't have call-in orders. But the order was ready in 10 minutes! So good!
I’ve wanted to like this place for a long time for all the hype it gets. It remains my brother’s favorite restaurant.Gave it one last try. The sides were fine. Nothing to write home. Onion rings more on the side of doughy than crispy. The coleslaw was great but the meat continues to disappoint. My first bite of pulled pork was great. Moist, juicy and flavorful. The beef rib was tough and tasted like it had been cooked on charcoal, hot and fast. It relied on its sauce to make it palatable. Came back to the pulled pork and it was dry as a fart. I’m guessing they pulled it as soon as they were done cooking it and didn’t rest it.
I had the barbecue chicken and I really like their macaroni salad. They have the best macaroni salad.
Pretty ordinary BBQ food. Best I have had in San Diego is Abbey’s Real Texas BBQ.
