Tried to reserve same day and of course there were no tables but I did ask to be on the waiting list should there be cancellations. When they did have a cancellation that was too late for us I let them know and they accommodated us by keeping 4 bar seats open. The bartender Juan assessed the situation right away. We told him we would like the tasting menu and though it appeared they don't provide that at the bar he said he would put together a tasting menu for us and then proceeded to do so and it was fantastic. He fashioned a curated dinner for the 4 of us, including one gluten free guest, that was fantastic! Each course was better than the last! The atmosphere at the bar was perfect, not a busy buzzing bar but still vibrant and yet we had an intimate dining experience at our corner. The bar area is gorgeous and it took us a while but we eventually realized it was open air which made is seem even more exotic! At the end of the meal someone came to check on how we enjoyed the meal and we let her know it was great. She moved on and Juan told us that we had just met Astrid. Well, we had to have a pic with her and she accommodated us with more than just a smile, she was friendly and it just topped the evening off perfectly. This restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip!
The best dish I have eaten all year was the creamy quinoa with beef bourguignon. A romantic and absolutely gorgeous main dining room set under a spectacularly decorated tree. We ordered several appetizers and none disappointed. An inventive and high quality menu gives credence to the praises being heaped on Peruvian cuisine.
Delicious Food, but made to feel unwelcome by Astrid, who made the rounds at tables, but seemingly avoided any table not populated by Peruvians. We’ve been here before, but it may be our last time.
Had the everything is delicious and the service is quite great. I was here myself, that I feel although it's worth coming for the food along, it is definitely a better place to share the experience with others here.
We were lucky enough to be able to score seats for an amazing NYE course fixed menu (reso’s far in advance are must regardless of the day). The restaurant also had to respond to the very abrupt country restrictions and lockdowns just a...few days prior and did so very well. The food and service exceeded our expectations. We often seek stand out culinary experiences during travel and Astrid y Gaston did not disappoint.
