With two small dogs in the tow to a wonderful reception, good hospitality and very tasty eating. also offered to relocate when the rain came. the season buffalo mozzarella and tricolour tomaten was simple, creamy and very tasty. the fresh truffles. the pizza a beautiful last note.
‘Sunday Lunch’ : We had the Saltimbocca d’été, a veal escalope, mascarpone cream, tomato and peppers, sage, Parma ham. Baked au gratin with mozzarella and accompanied by linguine wide noodles, delicious! with a fresh tomato sauce. I’m getting hungry once more just translating this for...you! The Parma ham is crispy, the aromas of mascarpone, toms peppers fusing with the delicate veal, a tender yet very tasty delicacy. Hero Husband was tempted with the Tagliata de boeuf, grilled beef the French call this a 'butcher 's piece ', we would say a generous cut of beef, no butchers were hurt! , sliced, served on a bed of mixed greens and 'confit ' as in chutney but not sugary mini vine tomatoes with roasted potatoes a hint of rosemary. Please do yourself the favour and only ask for ‘saignant’ medium rare , NOT well done. You will get the meat just slightly rosé; it cooks itself a tad more while you are having it on your plate. And yes, you may thank me! Other times we started with the Farandola d’antipasti for 2 , which is, in itself, a feast already to start with, as it contains all the delirious culinary dreams we nurture about Italy. Lovely grissini sticks fresh bread rolls. From their choice of desserts pudds we tasted the classic Tiramisù we also recommend the Café Gourmand which is something we only got to know in France: You get a cup of coffee or tea with a choice of tiny, beautiful ‘tasters’ of their desserts – you might even get to know something you didn’t know yet. Wines are reasonably priced and the caffè is 2nd to none. Friendly service, very comfy seating, enough space to breathe, the noise level can be animated but then it’s an Italian restaurant and it’s never disturbingly loud. Highly recommendable, you might want to give a call ahead to book – we once experienced a full house and people with no reservation had to be turned away.
Very nice starter, special the sea food, the same very good steak and beer, time to eat very short, price very low, good place for dinner.
We arrived without reservation on Friday night of holiday weekend and we were installed quickly. delicious and hot dishes, dessert a feast...I recommend to anyone who loves quality fresh Italian cuisine and loves to dine in peace.
