I recently visited Pho 99 for a mid-week late lunch and was disappointed. I brought my service dog and was told by the owner that my dog was not allowed in the restaurant. Usually, I would sit outside with my dog at restaurants; however, the weather has been extremely hot. I took my dog home and came back because I love Vietnamese food. I ordered the vegetable springs rolls and the grilled lemon grass chicken. The roll was pre-made, and tasted it. The grilled chicken was overcooked. To top it off, they were out of Boba tea! It's the middle of the day. How could you run out of Boba tea? Like I said... disappointed. Nice atmosphere, but pho was subpar at best. The broth was sweet and portions were more ideal for kids, rather than adults. Appetizers were tasty, but pricey and portions weren't very generous. The personnel were nice but absent most of the times. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4
I love exploring different pho restaurants. This restaurant ambiance is charming and owner is friendly. Unfortunately, pho tai broth was disappointing water down and too sweet. Adding fish sauce, hoisin and sriracha did make it taste better but still lack that deep beef flavor. Served hot in a plastic bowl. A big no no for those concerned with chemicals. Noodles were mostly broken. Bo luc lac (shaken beef) marination was also bland with portion for a child. Not Vietnamese approved. There are much more authentic Viet restaurants in Sarasota.
