The Italian Grill - Sarasota

They claim to be the “Best Italian Food in Sarasota”, so we thought we’d try it. Wow. What a disappointment. Entering the restaurant there was an extremely loud person at the bar, that turned out to be the owner. Major turn off. The waitress was abrupt and unpleasant. The Lasagna was all cheese and pasta, with a weak canned sauce. Horrible. The Broccoli Rabe looked like they scooped it out of the trash can. My fiancée’s meal of Eggplant Parmigiana was equally disappointing, plastered onto a pile of bad spaghetti. Here’s a pic of the broccoli rabe… I heard good things but won’t ever waste my money or time there again. And we live a few blocks away. We were hoping it was good, because of the convenience. Cafeteria food at best. Yuck.

Disappointed to watch owner stand by when the place was really busy and do absolutely nothing to help. Watch servers carry heavy plastic bins full of dishes, bartender clearly needed help. Guess some folks think they are too good to work with laborers . Hope whatever was on his phone was worth it.Service was labored but they did great. He should be embarrassed.

We were a party of 9 and easily accommodated. The restaurant is nice and light, very comfortable. There is adequate parking. The staff is friendly, professional efficient. The food is prepared well. Everyone was happy with their salads, pizzas and sandwiches. No complaints all smiles we will return.

Best Italian food, great service, great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Ate there twice and both times had a great meal. I left New York and am so happy to find this restaurant in Florida nearby. I will definitely be going back to The Italian Grill.

We moved to the area several months ago and have visited The Italian Grille several times already. The staff is always extremely kind, attentive, and friendly. The food has always been fresh and very flavorful. The prices are very fair. This will be one of our regular places to eat at. We highly recommend the meatballs, chicken parm, and I love the ceaser salad. For drinks we love the limoncello martini and their old fashion. You can always find the owner making rounds to ensure everyone is taken care of happy. Great find!
