Champagne or water is offered after check-in. The valet and the bellman were very polite and cheerful. In fact, every staff member I encountered was very courteous and joyful. Resort Amenity: The resort fee provides inclusive access to the Beah Club, Golf Club, and exercise classes. I particuarly loved the Human Chess (life-size)Set located in the game room. Room: My room was absolutely perfect with a balcony view of the Marina. Food: Service was remarkably fast. I ordered a custom salad, and it was exquisitely delicious. Definitely worth the cost! Atmosphere: Very Tranquil Happy Overall, I truly enjoyed my vacation at the Ritz Carlton, Sarasota.
1 Bathroom maintenance was so poor during a special event that guests dressed in formal attire were wiping down counters just to make it usable. The floors in ALL the women 's rooms were wet and gross, requiring one to hold up their pants while using the facilities. Disgusting! 2 Special event service was abhorant. There was zero regard for dietary preferences previously selected. Vegan diners were served salads with anchovies despite menus placed at each seat indicating dietary preferences . We had to search for a server just to get the correct salads. Some diners who ordered poultry were served pink chicken and didn 't feel comfortable eating it. My menu clearly indicated a vegan dessert. Everyone at my table was served the same cake which matched the menu description so I thought, perhaps, the dessert course could be vegan? That would be the easiest thing for a caterer to do when accommodating mixed diners . Nope! As was evidenced by the reaction one diner had to their first bite of cake. I searched for a server to inquire about the vegan option. I pointed to the menu noting the vegan cake description so she understood what I was referring to. She just kept saying, the cake is vegetarian, you can eat it! She was annoyed by my trying to explain the difference between vegan and vegetarian and grumbled that she could go make something special for us. All we wanted was what we were told we were getting... I told her not to bother because, honestly, I didn 't want her handling my food after that conversation. I was so starving by that point in the evening that I checked Jack Dusty 's menu online to see if I could sneak out and grab a bite to eat there. Sadly, nothing on the menu was aligned with my dietary needs. : In summary WOW! Just WOW!
We enjoyed the Easter buffet. Excellent 5-star food, wonderful service from the valets to the hostesses, to the servers. Can't say enough about their amazing staff.
I cannot believe this place is operating as a Ritz Carlton. If you use points to book here vs. spending money be expected to be treated as such. My sister and I came here for our birthday and we did not sleep the whole night as there was loud thumping echoing through our walls every couple of minutes. Finally when calling at 2 am the engineer came up pissed and said management has known about it for months and refuses to fix the pipes. The hotel was at capacity and they were out of ear plugs and they only gave me some of my points back. If it is a known issue why are you renting out rooms???
First time at a Ritz and we were expecting top levels of luxury and service that they have built their reputation on. The hotel missed badly on several fronts for delivering a unique experience. It was memorable for the wrong reasons. The levels of luxury and service do not match the price they ask and certainly do not get anywhere close to the value for the money. Bell staff and valet were great and delivered great service. Front desk did not. Very dry and not a good first experience at the hotel. The Beach club is a nice added value but it's a 20 minute drive on a very crowded beach that's covered with seashells that make it hard to walk comfortably. The wait staff at the beach was very short handed. There was an excess of chair and umbrella installers but not e ough servers. Had to flag them down several times to order overpriced drinks and food. And the food at the beach club was low quality and had a mass produced feeling. Jack Dustys also was underwhelming and very average food for breakfast and dinner. The service was also very average for the wait staff and hostess. Overall a 3 star experience, very average, and not worth the price at all. Hotel is also very dated. Part of the facade missing at the beach club. Our balcony overlooked one of the rooftops gutters and blocked our view of the front of the hotel. Very poor design for these room balconies. Perhaps there is a reason some guests have better experience than others but this hotel should try to make all their high paying guests have a better experience. Very disappointing overall.
