The thali was quite basic and regular Bengali food compared to the price. However the prawn malaikari they served was completely uncooked and was smelling of raw prawns! They put uncooked prawns in a thick oil and cream gravy. It was completely tasteless and even more disgusting in smell. We also noticed that the prawn was not cleaned properly. Would suggest not going there if in Ganga kutir.
While I enjoyed the rural Bengal setup, the food was bit overpriced 1200+18% Gst. Taste was average and quantity was adequate. However somw might argue that they are charging for the ambience, but then to each his own.
First and foremost thing I want to mention about this place is the ambience... It is just fabulous, outstanding, mesmerising and you can add many more expressions like that... It was that beautiful and you will feel you are in another world... The staffs are very courteous and helpful... The only problem with them is they only have Thali options... And it was very costly... I had a Illish Thali and my wife had a Parsher Thali or something like that... The Thalis have many constituents... Some were really tasty and some were decent... One complete Thali is more than enough for one person also you are not allowed to share it... So, order accordingly... But whatever it may be... I will request everyone to give this place a try once...
The staff was brilliant, so friendly and courteous. They kept checking with us if we need anything else, if we are ok, how is the food. The food was delicious, fine dining at its best. The pocket pinch is little on the higher side, we paid 1600 for each thali. But all over the experience and the food was to remember.
Recently, I visited Sonar Tori at Ganga Kutir (Raichak on Ganges) was amazed by the delicious, soulful mind-blowing bengali food that I had! They say that it is quintessentially Bengali in every sense: sight, sound, smell, taste touch they've totally lived upto their motto! Their amazing Bengali curations left me spellbound. The vintage rustic ambiance, the calm serene vibe, the perfect atmosphere, wonderful hospitality, brilliant food drinks makes it a 10/10 place to be in for lunch/dinner with friends family therefore bags my recommendation!
