Two couples had finger food and a beer at Crazy Cactus (downtown location on 3rd Ave.) last evening. We hadn't been there before. Perhaps okay for some, but it is not the place for me. It is very basic in terms of its decor, it was very noisy for most of our two-hour stay, and the beer was only so-so (perhaps a bit flat?). Our waitress was reasonably friendly and efficient, although we were perhaps a bit surprised at her scanty attire (some parts nearly on full display!). And it is not an inexpensive place to visit. Perhaps most notably, the drinks were on the pricey side, at least relative to the overall setting of the restaurant. To be fair, I suspect that the place is attempting to cater to a younger crowd. I won't be back!
Really wasn't disappointed at all!! I went with a friend for rooftop patio drinks during PRIDE last weekend after lunch and it was a good time. Lots of people, good music, and a pretty solid view! Will be returning for the "night life" this weekend.
We ventured in here during our Saskatoon trip on a Sunday later in the evening, about 11:30 pm. Upon being greeted at the door by security for ID, and a very club-like music volume, we sat ourselves and were greeted by the only waitress. When inquiring about a virgin cocktail, which I am more than happy to pay for, we were advised a Shirley temple was all there was. We ordered one of those, the creamed cheese roll-up appetizer, shrimp tacos with Mexican chicken soup and the fried Oreo dessert. The appetizer was tasty, but small value wise. The shrimp tacos were very good and the soup flavourful. The dessert also was quite good, although all of the fried food items (shrimp in the tacos and dessert) were VERY dark - the oil needed to be changed very badly. When we came there was about 6 other patrons, by the time we left there was more than 30 - it was very, very loud and very crowded. This was our first time here so I do not know if this is usual and so it did not affect my rating. We were happy to have found somewhere to have a snack this late on a Sunday and overall enjoyed the tacos and sharing the bites we had.
Service was poor, waitress' were unfriendly until it was time to pay ( wanting a good tip). The food was terrible. You need to be drunk to enjoy this place won't even notice the poor service and bad food. ????????????????
