Two of us also had starters. All of the meals were delicious and the portion sizes, especially the amount of meat, were generous. The staff were not overly friendly at first but became more welcoming as our meal progressed. The pub had ample parking and a lovely outdoor area for when the weather is nice. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience.
This pub/restaurant is unassuming yet cozy. The interior is lovely and the staff is incredibly friendly. We felt warmly welcomed and all the food was fantastic. From the cod cheeks pil pil starter to the scampi and chicken gyros mains with delicious chips...
During our Thursday night stay at Swan Farm CL site, we were promised a warm welcome at the pub upon arrival. However, when I greeted the bar staff, I was told there were no tables available, despite the pub only having one diner and some people at the bar. I inquired about availability for later, but was only given a vague maybe response, as they finish serving food at a certain time. I was not asked if I wanted food or if I had prebooked a table, so we decided to leave. It was not the friendly pub experience I had been expecting.
What a find, it was our friends Anniversary so I rang the pub asked If we could leave a cake and balloons for a surprise, no problem They tell me, went for the meal they brought the cake out with plates And a knife to...cut it with. Unfortunately our meal in the restaurant was so filling we couldn’t eat The cake. The service by the girls was fantastic they were doing the bar serving The meals with no bother at all. The meal itself was very good, we all had soup to start home made leek potatoe Very tasty. I had the steak and ale pie delicious. All the meals were very tasty. Would recommend a visit, book in advance as it was full.
We went to the Hare and Hounds for lunch and weren't disappointed. The food was lovely and the atmosphere friendly. Shelley who was working was welcoming and friendly and worked well as it was quite busy, definitely worth booking ahead. We walked along the Cinder...Path from Whitby and followed the signs to the Hare and Hounds. We'll definitely visit again next year when we return to Whitby. Thanks to both Claire and Shelley who made our visits enjoyable.
