I've been to Memphis King several times even though it's usually out of my way. I'll make this short and sweet, I love bbq and seek out different places. I've been to most every one I know of in the capital district. There is not another BBQ place within 50 miles and probably more that touches this place. Now for the bad, it's super small, the only seating is a couple of picnic tables, so if you can get a seat at a table at all you will be sitting with other people. If I could Have ownership change anything it would be just a little bigger place. Doesn't have to be too big but a little would be nice. There are so many closed up store fronts in Schenectady I'm sure it would be easy to find. Parking: Parking around the restaurant can be very scarce , another reason they should move.

If you go here you won't regret it. The food is excellent reminds me of what you can get in the South and Midwest. Service is erratic in the late afternoon. The owners work extremely long shifts and sometimes get tired. So it says open till 6:30 p.m. on the website but if you show up at 6 p.m. you may find they closed 20 minutes earlier. So try to call in advance and see what's going on. The atmosphere is authentic family enterprise but don't be expecting anything fancy. Once you're inside the service is great I docked one star because of the uncertain closing time. The owner is really proud of her baked beans and she has every right to be they are fantastic.
