Bunratty Inn - Schull

We have been visiting this Restaurant on and off since 1992. Have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We came back over the bank holiday weekend October 2022 having not visited since 2016. Was so looking forward to it but ended up being very dissapointed with the service and the food. Although we were there first they deliberately ignored us over the local people (or people they knew in person). The steak I had was tough and the small bottles of red wine were the most expensive we have encountered in any other Restaurant/pub.

I've called here a number of times and it generally disappoints. Food is average, overpriced and the staff are uninterested. Schull is very poor for restaurants in general which is a real pity and hard to understand.

Stopped by at the Bunratty Inn when calling back from Mizen Head. Just happened to see people eating outside in the sun and thought we would give it a go. My wife and I had a BLT and chicken curry which were both excellent. Portions were big and food was very tasty. No nonsense, good value wholesome good.

Was told that they were closed while lots of people were eating and drinking at 4pm Saturday. Extremely rude staff,no explanation given.

Visited here recently. Sat outside. No menus will be brought out to you and no one will come and tell you that you order and pay at the bar. We did this and the food we got was ok. I ordered a number of drinks , minerals and wines put on the bar to carry out yourself I checked my receipt to see I had paid €1.25 for a dash of orange in my water. I’ve no problem and have paid 20 /30 c before for this but €1.25 is outrageous. When I went in to query this , the barmaid responded to me “ I only work here “ turned her back and walked off , when I asked her for the manager she said he was on his lunch and refused to give me her name. The manger did approach our table and was a very polite man and apologised for her behaviour . Had said the cost is gone up but I had spoke to someone else outside who had not been charged for their dash. €1.25 is a total rip off. Luckily it was a lovely sunny hot day and we enjoyed Mizen head.
