The dinner menu had a good variety of choices for a small inn and the food was delicious. The wine selection matched the menu very nicely and the bar had a great variety of gins and whiskeys. The bedrooms were simple but cozy, warm, and comfortable. The full Scottish breakfast was a delightful start to the day. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and good value for money. I hope the inn continues to thrive and prosper!
My partner and I along with our young family were delighted with our meal. We were seated next to a roaring fire in the bar area where the children scoffed their homemade soup, burgers and twice cooked chips. Oxana is a very attentive owner/server who catered to all our needs, some homemade sweet delights followed from Bryn the owner/chef for the children which left the adults to enjoy the exquisite roast beef which was served with the biggest homemade Yorkshire puddings and fresh vegetables. We were made so welcome even although we had not reserved a table. Both Bryn and Oxana were most welcoming. We will be returning very soon with more friends.
Located in the picturesque Yarrow Valley, our recent experience at The Gordon Arms Restaurant with Rooms felt like catching up with an old friend. This was our 6th or 7th visit since the new owners took over, and each time we are greeted with a warm welcome. We decided to indulge in their November 5-course tasting menu and wine flights, and it was truly delightful. The chef's skill was evident in every dish, creating a simple yet heartwarming dining experience in the heart of the Scottish Borders. What sets The Gordon Arms apart is the consistent warmth of their hospitality and the genuine care in their service. It's more than just a restaurant; it's a sanctuary that feels like a home away from home. And the best part? The November tasting menu with wines was only £48 per person. This humble touch makes The Gordon Arms a standout in the Scottish Borders, a place we return to not just for the delicious food, but for the genuine charm and value it offers with each visit. A true 5-star discovery that keeps us returning with a smile.
Saturday lunch a fantastic meal and top service. The menu is dominated by local produce. We went for three courses for just over £30 which is a great deal, especially when the cooking is as good as this. Seriously excellent food cooked by a proper chef who also popped out to say hello all part of the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I fully recommend this place well worth a drive up the spectacular Yarrow Valley. They also do a takeaway service so you can enjoy the same quality at home.
I have visited the Gordon arms twice this year, once for food and once for a stay over in room 3 and food. It is a lovely quiet location with excellent food and rooms. The hosts are most welcoming and very hospitable. At breakfast I ordered extra toast half way through and it came in time to finish our breakfast, including their own made jam. Our evening meal was amazingly delicious (local venison) and service was friendly and speedy. The view from our room was also amazing if you take away the dreaded Scottish weather. Overall an amazing experience, oh and not to forget the great choice of wines!
