Amongst the food we ate, the clam chowder, chicken pesto and Reuben panini’s, and chocolate chunk and oatmeal raisin cookies were all something we would come back for. And the bread was so outstanding that we had to take a small and large round home. Would 100% recommend.
Greetings fellow food lovers and Alaskan enthusiasts! The Alaska Sourdough Bakery in Seattle, a quaint spot that brings to mind the gold rush era and rugged pioneers. Brace yourself for an experience that might not live up to your expectations. As an Alaskan native, I admit I'm a bit skeptical of anything claiming to embody the spirit of my home state. Regrettably, the service at this bakery didn't exactly impress me, no matter where one comes from.Consider my attempt to order an iced latte. Instead, I received a piping hot beverage with hazelnut syrup and a separate cup of ice. As if a cold coffee without any flavor was an unthinkable request, it was made clear that there was no intention to re-make the drink. So, disappointed, I poured my hazelnut latte over the ice, watching it transform into a watery imitation of what it should have been. Management: If making coffee is a struggle, maybe it's best to just not to offer it, especially in Seattle. There was a bright spot in the experience; while the Danish $4.50) was hard to enjoy alongside my diluted beverage, the Double Chocolate Brownie $4) was a chocolate lover’s fix that shut me up for long enough to forget about my coffee. The Alaska Sourdough Bakery offers a glimpse of the Last Frontier, unfortunately, it’s a glimpse of the Carrs on Gambell. Tainted by a low-key aggression and a confusing approach to coffee-making. Proceed with caution, I’m sure it’s a great place, just don’t order a coffee and it'll probably be fine.
I can only vouch for the bread. Grabbed a few of the smaller rolls of sourdough. Delicious. I wish I could take a bunch home.
Friendly staff.. we just got pastries but they were very good.Their breakfasts looked good and we were sorry we didn't have breakfast there that day. Can't really say much about it,I posted pictures, it is certainly a busy little place
The food was good, great for a quick lunch. The pastries and cookies were delicious! The staff was helpful and patient as it was our first visit.
