We also had mac and cheese and collard greens as sides, which, like the appetizers, outshone the main dishes. The cocktails were reasonably priced and enjoyable. Unfortunately, by the time we got to dessert, everything had sold out, so we missed out on trying anything sweet. As others have mentioned, the prices are a bit high (even by Seattle standards), but I can confidently say it's absolutely worth it.
The starters and appetizers were delightful. The deviled eggs featured creative toppings, and the sauce accompanying the clams was simply irresistible. The cocktails were well-balanced and enjoyable. As for the main courses, they were good but somewhat underwhelming. The jambalaya was flavorful, with a nice level of heat and depth. The ginger chicken was juicy but lacked robust flavor. Overall, we thought the entrees were nice, but not exceptional. Their prices, however, are certainly on the higher side. If the entrees had the same irresistible taste as the clam appetizer, I would be eager to return. As it is, I'm just pleased to have had the experience.
There's a reason why it's tough to get a table at this place. The food is amazing, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere is fantastic. It's a family-style dining experience, so bring a group and try a little bit of everything. They serve strong drinks that pair perfectly with their dishes, and the banana pudding comes in an adorable mason jar for you to take home! Be sure to make a reservation in advance or arrive right when they open. You won't be disappointed!
This food was so amazing! I ate not so great food the day before and I was hoping to make up for it. This place surpassed my expectations. We were seated quickly and the staff was so friendly. We ordered ginger chicken, wings, sushi, pork chops, shrimptoast cornbread and Mac and cheese. I can't say what my favorite was because it was all so great.
I see why this place is always booked! The food was amazing! We started off with the 'hood sushi ' which is super delicious and creamy, the catfish wasn 't too overwhelming and balanced out the rest of the roll. The dipping sauce on the side complements thedish well. The Bayou Teche, which is an eggplant dish, was exceptional! If your budget isn 't too flexible, I recommend sharingthe dish. This place has pescatarian and vegetarian dishes, which is great for those with these dietary preferences. The drinksare well made and incorporate Black owned spirits! If you are able to get a reservation at Communion it is definitely worth it!
