Ferdinand - Seattle

We were in from out of town and had only two nights in Seattle. This place was recommend as part of experiencing Capitol Hill. The ambience and the wait staff were both great – but sadly that’s where it ends. First the menu is very limited. We were hoping to have a few small plates and there’s really not much to choose from. We decided to start by sharing a cheese and jam plate which was certainly nice but nothing exceptional. My friend had their burger which was fine, but again nothing notable. I ordered the chicken which came out virtually raw – “need a steak knife to cut through the muscle tissue” raw. I’ve never had that experience before in a restaurant! We just sent it back and called it a night and went a few doors down for a quick bite. The other issue is we were warned that it’s really up to the chef as to when your food is arriving. Our food was not synchronized at all. So we had the cheese plate, then the hamburger came out and when that was completely done and gone my chicken arrived raw. At that point we couldn’t even consider sending it back to be cooked because we had already wasted way too much time and endured the awkwardness of having one person eating while the other person isn’t.This place has great potential so I hope they change up their menu a bit to make it more interesting and fun. Then they should recruit some chefs who are actually interested in being in the restaurant business, customer service and food safety…

The wine selection is fantastic, and the service is quite good. It's an excellent spot for gathering with friends.

Bar Ferdinand was the ideal spot for our date night. The atmosphere was just what we were looking for—no distracting TVs, just softly dimmed lights and wonderful music. The service was exceptional as well! The staff provided excellent recommendations for food and displayed a deep knowledge of their wine selection. I've already shared my experience with friends. You should definitely check it out!

Bar Ferdinand is an excellent spot for enjoying unique wines and delicious food. If you're fortunate enough to have Chris as your server, you're in for a treat!
