You prepay for service that you don’t get. I had to get up out of my chair three times to get someone’s attention for service (another drink, the bill, etc). Glasses of wine as high as $18-$20 a glass. Bill for two who split a pizza and one app was almost $100. No way is it worth it—too many places to eat with better service and less expensive.
I loved the ambiance. Bar Ferdinand is tucked away from the street in an alcove of other shops, bars and restaurants but I found the price for the food a bit much for the portion size. It came off as trying to be at a level it's not. My friend and I ordered a mushroom dish and we got 4-5 mushrooms over an egg that left us hungry for more so we left and went down the street for dinner elsewhere. I think it would be fun for happy hour if you're aware that it's only beer and wine and don't mind eating appetizers for dinner.
Only complaint is when they were playing loud mariachi music but our server switched it to jazz thank god!
I absolutely love this place. I came to this restaurant first to, obviously, drink wine. But this place is a fantastic foodie place with delicious delicious food. I came here with a group of four and we ate a myriad of dishes, including two desserts! Everything is super inventive while also staying grounded and unpretentious, and it's a great place to convert a burgeoning foodie into a true foodie. I look forward to coming back to this place over and over again!
