Food is terrific and I can feel the freshness of freshly cooked tomato sauce and the ingredients. The food really feels more alive here. It is a authentic Italian/Spanish restaurant so you might want to know what you are ordering. If not sure maybe ask your waiter . On the ambience side, I feel the place can maybe use some more lighting. I don't think there is any curbside pickup or you can order ahead.
1 year later and I'm back. Same meal with the exact same consistency, a rare thing indeed! Smiling faces who remember your name, with wonderful ambiance Italian food to die for. And did I mention the homemade pesto butter! Thank you for an amazing birthday dinner once again Pomodoro!
Food’s great! I love how this place gives a family restaurant feel. Everyone makes you feel at home. My husband said the tiramisu tastes like the one he had in Italy.
Parking : They have parking in the building and plenty of street parking around. Location: East lake side is little quite and I went on a rainy Friday evening. Ambiance other details : it's nice and homely, there had information about the chef and their 3 decades of service in restaurant business. Service : Excellent friendly service people, very helpful in bringing a birthday Tiramisu with a candle. When we couldn't eat it there and take it Togo, they packed it so well. Food Vegetarian friends of mine loved their penne pasta. Tomato creme soup is so yummy! I felt my angel hair pasta was little dry and I added habinaro sauce in to my food (self holiday expirements), lol. Bread can be warmed up, they serve it with yummy pesto sauce. So that makes it awesome. Little cozy family style Italian restaurant.
Had dinner with my son and future daughter-in-law at Pomodoro, a Italian restaurant with Spanish influences over the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. The room had an old world charm that was dimly lit with a comforting ambience. We all ordered pastas but the stars of the evening were the Insalata di Caesar, the Calamares a la Plancha, and the tiramisu. The Caesar salad was fresh and perfectly dressed. The dressing, made from scratch using raw eggs, was one of the best that I’ve had in years. It was nice and pungent with the just right amount of garlic, anchovy and lemon. The pan fried calamari was tender and perfectly seasoned. The pastas were really tasty but were overwhelmed with too much Parmesan for my liking. I would have preferred some freshly grated Parmesan cheese tableside. The habanero oil was a nice touch; it was absolutely delicious adding a nice amount of heat without altering the flavours. And the tiramisu was a real delight and a perfect finish to the evening. The mousse-like cream was absolutely gorgeous that left us wanting more.
