Don't try to go upstairs to play games...you have to be invited. We weren't invited. Also, the maze isn't a maze. It's a path. But I liked it. Good vibes.
We have hosted our wedding their and had almost all of it organized through Juckerhof (location of ceremony, catering, etc., with few exceptions like photographer). They did an excellent job. Everything went as smoothly as it could have, with almost no additional organizations effort from our side they day of. The food was excellent and prepared on time for all parts of the celebration. They also went above and beyond in accomodating special requests. Communication was always easy and clear. In short, there is nothing the staff of Juckerhof could have done better.
What 's not to love about this place? It 's out in the sweet country side, so if you are up for some Swiss country side home cooking hospitality, come here. This is located one train stop away from Uster, so it is quite easy to get here from Zurich HB/Stadelhofen. From the train station, I take the 20 minute walk as a reward for me to pig out once I get there. Be forewarned the first part of the walk includes a very steep hill. Otherwise there is a shuttle bus for a small charge. This info is on the website research before you go. Annually, Switzerland 's largest pumpkin exhibition is held here around October and coincides with Halloween timing. That is when you really want to stay away from this place only on the weekends as it gets packed and crazy...Unless you are here to see the giant size pumpkins/arrangements or bringing children here for the pumpkin carving lessons (for with Halloween . During this month on the weekends, there are loads of people coming here by car looking confused (b/c there is no designated parking spot on site they tell you that on the website so research and prepare beforehand and also gunning for that free bus that runs like only every 20 25 minutes. Otherwise, this area is quite peaceful on the weekends. Depending on the season, you can also go picking for different types of fruits. Beware that the apple farm has many rules in there which includes no pets, no shoes, etc... so wear a good pair of socks! I like coming here for their Sunday brunch (it 's from 9am 12pm! , it is reserved out 1 2 months in advanced, and bookings can be made on line. It has very little seating. The desserts here are great my friend who is a dessert lover didn 't even make it to the main. The warm main includes a small but decent selection of cooked eggs over easy with bacon, scrambled eggs... and the cold items include cold meats, salad, yogurts and museli. Juices, coffee/tea, water, Ovamaltine and other beverages are free refills. Otherwise, come here for their limited seating self serve restaurant which has great hot foods in the winter you sit inside (small area and in summer you can sit on the benches or grass to enjoy the view. Also on the side there is an area you can buy cheap and cheery hamburgers and bratwurst... or alternatively, there is always an open fire area where you can bring your own bratwurst and grill it there (some people do that, usually families for fun ! Two things I always walk away from here are (1 the fresh apple cider for CHF2 3 per large bottle, it 's so fresh and cheap (2 the pumpkin seeds in mint and spicy. They carry lots of various gourds for consumption and decoration, and also meats, cheese and other farm specialties. Also they have nice gift ideas like various tasting proseccos (of course includes pumpkin, did I mention they are a bit pumpkin crazy here . The area also has a nice walking path and you can even walk around the lake for a few hours at your leisure. A nice way to enjoy nature after a gluttonous meal here. I knock off one star b/c this place is not the easiest to get to... the shuttle bus is a bit of a wait at times, the 20 minute walk is nice but I could do without it and it wasn 't even marked all the way so thankfully we were able to follow people ahead of us to ensure we turned at the right areas.. and my friend who knows a lot about the local town gossip has said the residents purposely don 't want a parking lot here b/c it would entice loads of people esp from Zurich to come here on the weekend which would create lots of traffic and also explains why it 's not well signed for walkers/drivers. Well, b/c most people never think about this they drive up here anyway and clog up the whole town looking for parking that doesn 't exist which holds up the flow of the shuttle bus, not all very smooth... but this is much more of a painful situation in October.
Good as a place, but unfortunately the owner of the place
A wonderful place not only for children but also for organic lovers to enjoy good food and relax, especially during the week when there is not so much going on.
