Great fillet steak and Argentinian malbec, service was great we were well looked after, great atmosphere and reasonable price wise.
Went for birthday and very very underwelming .... was cash only night on till which made it more of a thought process before ordering to avoid running to other side of town for cash point post meal...limited ales left ... pizza very average and spicy prawn pasta was just ok as just jalapenoes popped into sauce making it look less appertizing... would have been better with more refined thin sliced red chillies to up it's visual game. As they do full take away option as well I guess that says on the tin what to expect. All very ordinary to be honest and better other choices in the town to eat.
Well let me set the mood it’s a Sunday night me and the wife are hungry as we missed dinner we had seen this place a few times as we shopped in settle and the advertisement said the best steak in settle so we wondered in at about 7pm and the place was a ghost town it looked like they just opened and the owner looked like he had just had 10 rounds with aj the night before as we was seated I began to look at the decor and finish of the interior (as I’m a construction site manager so it’s just a thing I do) Iat a glance it looked authentic to the old country steak house it was trying to portray then I looked deeper and the cracks started to show it was abit fake to me there is a wall (where we sat) that was just mirrored and couldn’t understand why the ceiling looked like it had been put up 30yrars ago it wasn’t clean and it had 2 “oak beams” what was absolutely diabolical they were imatational and bad at that anyways let’s get to the food we ordered wings, mozzarella sticks, the fully loaded burger and the enchiladas..... well the wings smelt and tasted like wet dog I was almost sick then we move onto the burger with home “made chips” well when I was a young en my mother use to make home made chips and they were great and still love them to this day well...... the very first time I tried to copy my mothers and I made the mistake of putting the chips in before the oil was at desired temperature and I left them on the side when I cooked them and when I tried them let’s just say I would never forget the tast (horrible cold over cooked and was saturated in fat) well that’s the only way to describe them and the wife didn’t like the cheese sticks and the enchiladas and nachos were very rip off and bland.... so to top it off we left the food and paid the bill (I didn’t want to pay but the wife didn’t want to make a scene so we left I wound not even rate this one star let alone 5 star that they say on the door
I have visited this small steak restaurant several times, and every time I have found it, it is a pleasant, tasty experience. regarding steak prices, steaks here are reasonable and pleasant and the atmosphere is always pleasant. to be in settle, where there are only a few really decent places to eat, the sizzle and griddle is a good, fair bet. (oh and the red wine is always delicious.)
