However, I must say that El Mirador exceeded expectations and was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The waitress was absolutely lovely and gave us fantastic service , and the seafood paella was delicious! The salads were also very nice. Beautiful, peaceful spot right on the river overlooking Seville.
We passed this place a couple of times whilst walking along the river. It's always packed and the various fried fish and seafood on the plates looked rather good so we decided to try it out. We usually dismiss restaurants like this situated in prime positions because quality is often inferior, prices high and are usually targeted at the mass volume tourist market. This restaurant is an exception. It's packed with locals, a good sign in my view. I chose fried baby squid and my husband opted for garlic prawns. Mine arrived piping hot, straight out the deep dryer, crunchy with the right amount of bite for squid which tells you it's been cooked perfectly and not over cooked (which renders squid rubbery and inedible). With lemon squirted all over, it was quite frankly sublime. My husband's prawns were in a traditional terracotta dish, sizzling away in hot olive oil that must have had a bulb of finely chopped garlic in it. Hot, garlicky prawns that were devoured with gusto and the remaining olive oil mopped up with crusty bread. We shall pong the whole aeroplane out tomorrow when we fly back home but who cares?! I am so surprised at so few reviews this restaurant has because the food is really good. It serves by far the best fried seafood in Seville (I've been disappointed elsewhere). It isn't cheap the squid was €14 and the garlic prawns €15 but the quality and quantity justified the price. Its easy to find, just turn left once you've crossed the bridge into Triana. It's the second lot of tables along the riverside walk.
What a happy surprise to find separate vegetarian menu with gluten free options at a very small andalucian restaurant by the river Quadalquivir! We took places at terrace, indeed I don't know is there tables inside at all. Waiter was very kind, he knew about celiacs and served us incredibly good zucchini doses for a small hunger. If I go to Seville again I will go here.
A nice outdoor venue by the river, with good shade. Perfect for tapas and cerveza while the day is still warm. Scored a table and a liter of cerveza while we perused the menu. Wound up with croquetas de jamon (made with chickpeas; interesting and not traditional but perhaps not what you might want; puntallitos (awesome fried whole baby squid); peppers with tuna and olive oil (yum), and very nice papas bravas; the sauce with a little kick better than many insipid samples. A great place to chill, watch the penitentes on the bridge, and view the many people out strolling semana santa
The Sevillians swear by the fried fish served in Triana and they have all reasons to do so. We walked across the Triana bridge and the locals guided us to Calle Betis. El Mirador was the second restaurant on the street and promised a delicious home made paella. We ordered fried anchovies, seafood paella, chicken wings, fried squids and fries cuttlefish. I can promise you I am salivating even as I type this. The food was just out of the world. Their paella was the best we tasted in our entire trip. The fish was amazingly fresh and the preparations were superb. The waitress recommended we visit them in the evening for some yummy curried potatoes. Apparently they have a lot of Indian visitors visiting for vegetarian food. Highly highly recommended!
