A contemporary two bedroom B B with gracious hosts. We booked the room with a hot tub on the deck overlooking the bay. Our room was nicely decorated with Alaskan luxury accommodations : Soft sheets, fluffy carpets, oversized towels; just what we needed to feel refreshed after a week of fishing the Kenai. the breakfast!!! Wow! Eggs, bacon, toast, hashbrowns, fresh fruit, juice, coffee Reindeer sausage! It was the best breakfast I have ever had a B B! Altogether, it was a great stay. Keep them on your list when traveling to Seward.
I stayed here the last week of June 2009. The hosts are perfect, and will chat with you if you want, but they also know when to let you be. There are 2 Ekornes chairs from Norway in the front room, and to swivel those out twords Resurrection Bay is so relaxing. The rooms are nice, but it's the hosts, views and location that are well worth the trip to Seward. Best 2 days Ive ever spent in Seward, and I make that trip in my Jeep quite a few times every year.
About the place: This is the cleanest place I have ever stayed, and I have stayed in many hotels and B&B's. I really mean it, the owner Gary and his wife, take meticulous care of their property. It's all newly renovated, and the interior design is impeccable. The rooms have all of the creature comforts of home, and more (faux fireplace, air ionizer, and a wonderful deep tub). The views of the bay are sweeping from the front room/breakfast area. About the location: This is in the heart of the action. Steps from the waterfront, and one block from restaurants, bars, and shops. About the host and breakfast: Gary is one of the nicest hosts I have met. He is very accommodating. For example, I forgot my rain coat, and he lent me one for the day. Gary is also a great cook. His blueberry pancakes were amazing, the bacon and eggs were delicious, the fruit was fresh, and his coffee brewed properly. He also served a tasty cinnamon roll. The table was set beautifully, and no detail was overlooked. This type of hospitality needs to be applauded. It tends to be the exception, rather than the rule. I'm glad to spread the word, so that a great place like this can continue to succeed.
This is a fantastic place- I spent three nights here with my wife. The room was top notch- a super comfortable bed, really nice bathroom, relaxing atmosphere. Gary cooked us some incredible breakfasts during our stay and was very hospitable. Highly recommend for a getaway to Seward would love to go back!
We just returned from our wonderful Alaskan vacation and one of the highlights was our 2-day stay at Alaska's Otter House with the most breathtaking view of Resurrection Bay! We chose the Bayview Room with the hot tub and so glad we did since we had the great view of the bay and the mountains while soaking. The guest room and bathroom were very comfortable and nicely appointed and in a private wing of the home which provided us a great rest after our long, beautiful cruise through Kenai Fjords National Park. The hosts, Gary and Cheryl, were most welcoming, friendly and accommodating and we were so glad we got to share their lovely, comfortable home. We loved hearing about their Alaskan adventures and they were helpful in guiding us to local areas of interest. Gary's special, made-to-order (whatever and whenever you want! breakfast, served on Cheryl's lovely English bone china, was the perfect way to start each of our days. We did not want to leave since the view was so beautiful and relaxing. (Try the blueberry pancakes, crispy bacon, reindeer sausage and cinnamon roll!!! Very lovely and special place to stay when visiting Seward and Resurrection Bay!!!
