I came alone and ended in a small table half occupied by a fire extinguisher.
This was one of the more embarrassing dining experiences EVER.
Not too shabby, not too fancy, 'just right'!! A step up from the usual fare in a mock-Tudor setting but the old favourites are usually there! Not cheap, but not overly expensive and the food and service is consistently great. This is a fully licensed venue with a good selection of wines; tastings are also available. It pays to book ahead in the holidays and summer season, especially if you particularly want to sit indoors by the fire or 'outside' with a view (patio area is for all intents and purposes indoors with clear vinyl curtains and space heaters in winter).Kid friendly, some toys, although no outdoor playground, but there is a large lawn area in good weather. Locals (like me!) like to dine here, especially if you're on a slight budget but want something special!Check out their functions and special events; in summer this venue often features concerts and is booked for weddings and other parties.
As we stayed at the lodge for 2 nights, we decided to have supper. The food was tasty and the service great. However, as with the lodge, the food was pricey. However, they accepted credit cards whereas the lodge, only cash. Well worth a visit.
